We Need Your W-9

Before The Gold Rush can send any winnings, sidepot payouts, or slot-holder earnings, the IRS requires us to keep a current, signed Form W-9 on file for everyone we pay. Please make sure we have your current W-9 on file.

The Requirement

Why We Need Your W-9

A W-9 — IRS Form W-9, Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification — gives us the legal name and taxpayer ID we're required to have on file before paying you. It's quick, it's standard for any program that pays out prize money, and it keeps your payments on schedule.

Required to Get Paid
We can't release winnings or payouts without a current, signed W-9 on file. Getting it to us now means there's no delay when your money is ready.
Avoids Backup Withholding
Without a valid W-9, the IRS can require us to hold back a portion of your payment for backup withholding — currently up to 24%.
Accurate Year-End Forms
Your W-9 lets us issue correct year-end tax documents (such as a 1099) with the right name and taxpayer ID, so your records match the IRS.
Who This Applies To

Who Needs to Send One

If there's any chance you'll receive money from The Gold Rush, we need a current W-9 from you.

Owner / Riders
Anyone who may win prize money or earn a payout as the competitor on a horse.
Slot Holders
Breeders, stallion owners, and nominators set to receive slot-holder payouts.
New This Year
Anyone receiving a Gold Rush payment for the first time, or who hasn't sent us a W-9 yet.
Anything Changed?
If your legal name, business/entity, address, or taxpayer ID has changed, send an updated W-9.
Three Quick Steps

How to Get It to Us

01
Open the Secure Form
Head to our online W-9 form — it's the current IRS Form W-9, hosted securely. No printing, mailing, or PDFs to deal with.
02
Fill It Out
Enter your legal name, business name (if any), federal tax classification, and taxpayer ID (SSN or EIN) right in the form.
03
Sign & Submit
Add your electronic signature, hit submit, and you're done — we'll have your current W-9 on file right away.
Your Information Is Protected
A W-9 includes your SSN or EIN, so we collect it through a secure online form — never by text or unsecured email. We keep your information confidential and use it only for required tax reporting. And a quick heads-up: only submit your W-9 through our official form linked on this page — never in reply to an unexpected message that claims to be from us.
